In 2016 Australian Photo-Artist Murray Fredericks completed two trips to Lake Eyre in South Australia for his latest artwork project titled 'VANITY'
Accompanying Murray on both trips to capture sequences for this art house film and assist with equipment & mirrors there's something very special about Lake Eyre and spending time in a very remote part of Australia with someone who understands the environment so well. Both trips presented significant logistical and shooting challenges, 'type two fun' as Murray reminded me, there's no place like it in the world. VERY few people experience the lake in this way. Even fewer get to do it with a great mate and seriously talented artist.
"In these images I find my own, flawed, search for a kind of perfection. Perhaps it is a search driven by my own anxieties or vain attempt to escape the human condition. Standing in the silken water, surrounded only by a boundless horizon, I sense a release, a surrendering as the self dissolves into the light and space."
